Swissport and airline alliance Oneworld have opened the doors of their new lounges at Schiphol. Both lounges are located in Lounge 2 at the airport. The lounges are intended for travellers departing to a non-Schengen destination.
With the opening at Schiphol, Oneworld has launched its first European lounge. The 473-square-metre lounge offers a wide choice of seating in a bright, contemporary setting. The design, designed by D/DOCK, contains a subtle nod to Amsterdam, for example in the lighting. For example, the lamps are inspired by the lanterns that can be found around the Amsterdam canals.
“We have developed a contemporary, premium lounge experience with décor, equipment and upholstery that pay homage to life in the Netherlands. This luxurious lounge experience makes travelling simple, relaxing and enjoyable,” says Jochem Straatman, art director of D/DOCK.
Located in the non-Schengen area, the Oneworld lounge is conveniently located just ten minutes away from the gates of the airlines that are members of the alliance. Aspire Executive Lounges, Swissport’s lounge business, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the lounge.

In addition to being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Oneworld lounge, Swissport has also renovated and opened its own Swissport Aspire Lounge. This lounge can be booked by anyone with a flight to a non-Schengen destination. To increase efficiency, both lounges share a kitchen where top chefs prepare fresh dishes.
Subtle references to Amsterdam and the Netherlands can also be found in the design of the Swissport lounge. For example, the design refers to the Amsterdam School and the basalt stones of the Dutch dikes.
Swissport has expanded its workspaces for business travelers. Because sustainability is an important starting point, the new lounge also contains reused furniture from the old lounge. (Photos Schiphol).
