Car rental company Hertz will sell a third of its U.S. fleet of electric cars again. The proceeds are used to buy cars with a conventional combustion engine. In total, Hertz is selling 20,000 electric cars. The reasons are the low demand for electric rental cars and the high repair costs. Hertz has many Teslas in its fleet whose repair costs are high in case of damage, reports the German Handelsblatt. In addition, there would be reluctance on the part of consumers because of the range and infrastructure to charge electric cars. In addition, Tesla has lowered the prices of new cars, significantly reducing the resale value of existing Teslas for car rental companies. Hertz announced in 2021 that it would expand its fleet by 100,000 Teslas by the end of 2022. In April 2022, the purchase of 65,000 electric cars from Polestar was announced. (Photo Shutterstock).
