With a meeting for approximately 400 partners from home and (especially) abroad, TUI gave an informal kick-off for the Holiday Fair 2024 on Tuesday evening. This will start on Wednesday with the Trade Day. It has become a tradition for TUI to welcome its foreign partners who come to the Vakantiebeurs with a reception the night before. For the first time, the head office in Rijswijk was the location for an informal get-together with snacks, drinks, music and good conversations. Based on its own research, TUI was able to report that the wanderlust among the Dutch is undiminished. The number of summer holidays booked so far shows a plus of 15 percent compared to 2023. More than three-quarters of those surveyed (76%) have no impact on their holiday plans for this year. And once on holiday, 79% let the money roll more easily than at home. The absolute big spenders are the young people (18-29 years old). 96% of them say it is easier to spend money on holiday. More good news: early booking is back. After many consumers booked a trip more often last-minute during the corona period, three-quarters of those surveyed now say they book their trip early. Of those, 19% book three months in advance, 31% book more than three months in advance and 26% play it safe and book more than six months in advance. The type of vacation that is booked furthest in advance are tours and cruises. Photo: Arjan Kers, general manager TUI Netherlands, with Miguel Estarellas, the director of H10 Hotels.
