TUI is launching a new destination in Finland for next winter.
It concerns the town of Kajaani, just south of Lapland, in the Arctic Lakeland region.
With this, TUI is further expanding its range of active winter holidays.
TUI already has trips to Sweden and Norway via Scandinavian Mountains airport and to various places in Finnish Lapland: Kittilä, Ivalo, Kuusamo and Rovaniemi.
All the northern winter activities can be found in Kajaani, such as a husky ride or snowmobile ride and seeing the Northern Lights.
It is located in the pristine snow-sure plains with the large frozen lakes in the Arctic Lakeland region.
Kajaani is less well-known than the places in the slightly higher Finnish Lapland, but according to TUI, it has a lot to offer.
‘And because it’s even less crowded, the prices are very interesting.’ The range of accommodations varies from wooden cabins to hotels with many facilities, located in peace and quiet in the white wonderland or in a lively village.
TUI fly will fly from 17 January to 14 March with a direct flight from Amsterdam to Kajaani every Friday.
The package holidays, single tickets and 8-day excursion trip to this new Finnish destination can already be booked.
TUI calls the new destination Kajaani a nice addition to the well-known resorts around the airports of Kittilä, Kuusamo and Ivalo, which TUI fly has been flying to for several years.
These destinations are well-known and loved by Dutch holidaymakers and travel agents, says TUI.
“More and more holidaymakers want to experience the winter activities. That ranges from groups of friends who go snowmobiling and ice fishing, to families who have had a husky ride on their wish list for years and Northern Lights hunters. And although the skiing opportunities are not as extensive as in the Alps, there are certainly plenty of opportunities to spend a few days enjoying themselves as well.’ Through Scandinavian Mountains Airport, which opened in 2019, TUI has also been offering holidays in Sweden and Norway since last winter.
With 71 kilometres of ski slopes, Trysil is Norway’s largest ski area, suitable for beginners and slightly advanced winter sports enthusiasts.
The destination is also ideal for family vacations because the activities can be combined with other winter activities.
In Sweden there are quiet and wide slopes, very suitable for families with young children.
For cross-country skiers, trails are plentiful.
According to TUI, the accommodations are of high quality and are close to the slopes.
There is also plenty to do off the slopes, such as a husky tour or a snowshoe hike by moonlight.
According to TUI, these winter destinations are in high demand.
This is evidenced by the fact that 30 percent of the 2024/25 winter capacity at TUI fly is already fully booked in July.
