Forget those old, familiar vacations where you come home and are even more tired. Now there’s the Club Marvy experience. Here are six reasons why this experience is new and truly special:
1 Hidden Location: Kesre, a hidden bay in Izmir, surrounded by pine and palm trees.
2 Romantic sea: Two large sandy beaches with beautiful sunsets.
3 The best of both worlds: Separate areas for families with children and adults looking for peace and quiet.
4 Sustainable art: Atelier Marvy, an art gallery that hosts exhibitions throughout the season.
5 Worldly and Local Flavors Together: Restaurants led by Michelin-starred chef Cristina Bowerman and Turkish chef Ahmet Güzelyağdöken, who use local organic products in their creations.
6 A Story to Tell: The essence of a meaningful vacation is having a story to tell when you look back on it, achieved through seasonal rituals that become unforgettable experiences.
The truly organic experience
Another star of Marvy gastronomy is chef Ahmet Güzelyağdöken. One of the most important aspects for the chef, who creates the menu of the Marvy restaurants, is the use of products from Değirmen, the largest organic farm in the region. All dishes are prepared with these fresh, seasonal ingredients. Chef Güzelyağdöken also creates ‘random’ tables with fresh fish and seasonal vegetables daily.
Local values and simplicity
Club Marvy focuses on local values with a simple approach in every aspect, from architecture to gastronomy: wickerwork by artisans from Söke and Tire, lamps made from handmade bamboo sticks, and textiles produced especially for Marvy in the Buldan region. All textures reflect the delicacy of the Marvy spirit.
Michelin-starred chef in the Aegean : ‘I’m like an athlete’
Rome’s only Michelin-starred female chef, Cristina Bowerman, blends the local produce of the Aegean with Italian flavors at Buono Italiano, the restaurant she opened in 2019 at Club Marvy. She rates her success in gastronomy as follows: “What excites me is the adrenaline rush of always raising the bar! I’m just like an athlete. First, you walk 100 meters in a certain amount of time. The next day, run the same distance faster and push your limits to the limit. To me, this means being good at my job.’
Get ready for the Hidirellez ritual
According to an ancient Anatolian belief, two saints, Hızır and İlyas, meet on a bank every year on the night between May 5 and May 6 to grant wishes. Club Marvy celebrates this tradition, known as Hıdırellez, with its guests at a long table in Kesre Bay. Guests get up at 6:00 a.m. the next morning, wrap their wishes in rose petals, and throw them into the sea, because we all need hope! This year, there was a performance by Nükhet Duru at the Hıdırellez event.
A world for adults
One of the most special features of Club Marvy is its attention to both families with children and adults seeking a peaceful holiday experience. While children are having fun in the expansive Aqua Park amidst the lush greenery of the hotel, another world awaits on the ‘Adults-Only’ side of the hotel: quiet, private and romantic. Here, the rooms are located around the most beautiful sunset spot in the hotel. The ‘Adults-Only’ section also offers a private check-in area, a child-free beach and the Değirmen restaurant.
Exhibitions at Atelier Marvy
Curated by Döne Ötyam, Atelier Marvy is both an art gallery and a residency program, offering an intensive exhibition calendar this summer. The first exhibition of the season opened on April 19 with works by Vahap Avşar. On June 14, the second exhibition with works by Ebru Döşekçi will open. In the middle of summer, there are two exciting surprises: exhibitions by Esra Gülmen and the artist duo Hakan Sorar & Ahmet Rüstem Ekici, which show new perspectives that push boundaries.
Two different shows especially for this summer
This summer, Club Marvy introduces two unique show programs under the direction of Ahsen Gönülce, the successful choreographer from the entertainment world. “The Magic is Back”: This show transports guests to the vibrant atmosphere of the Studio 54 period, evoking the glamour and excitement of that iconic time. “It’s All an Illusion”: This show pushes the boundaries of acrobatics and promises to mesmerize audiences with breathtaking stunts and mind-blowing illusions.
Surprise during the holidays: Mert Demir
Mert Demir, the rising star who set the pop world on fire with his song ‘Ateşe Düştüm’, takes the stage of Club Marvy during two weeks of celebrations.
The Fahrettin Aykut Effect
When it comes to Club Marvy, it’s impossible not to mention the amazing influence of architect Fahrettin Aykut. Under his leadership, Club Marvy underwent a renovation from rooms into common areas, giving it a design identity that respects nature, is minimalist, and embodies the Aegean aesthetic. The resort continues to uphold this design philosophy.
