During the spring break, which is now in full swing for the south of the Netherlands, many Dutch people choose to go on holiday abroad again. TUI has listed the popular destinations for snow and sun holidays. Also this year, Dutch winter sports enthusiasts are opting en masse for Austria, followed by France, Italy and Switzerland. Notable newcomer is Sweden in fifth place. TUI has been offering the Scandinavian Mountains since this winter. This new destination is snow-sure and, in addition to opportunities for skiing and snowboarding, offers special excursions such as a husky tour or snowmobile safari. Finnish Lapland can also count on increasing interest, according to TUI. More and more Dutch people are opting for a week of sunshine during the spring break. Compared to last year’s spring break, the number of sun holidays booked increased by 18 percent. Popular at this time of year are the Canary Islands, followed by Cape Verde and Curaçao. This is followed by Egypt and Bonaire. With a plus of 20 percent compared to 2023, the Cape Verde Islands are the biggest riser of this list. According to TUI, this is due to the sunny climate, where it is around 25 degrees at this time of year. But the relatively short flight time of about 6 hours and the limited time difference with the Netherlands (2 hours in winter) are also an important reason for many travelers to choose a winter sun holiday in Cape Verde. After the south of the Netherlands, the North and Central regions will have spring break next week. (Photo Shutterstock).
