Transavia has had to cancel flights again due to the delay of major maintenance on aircraft. These are adjustments to the flight schedule in the period 1 July to 1 September. The delay in major maintenance is again caused by a combination of reasons, a spokesperson for Transavia told TravMagazine. On the one hand, there are still delays in the logistics chain, which means that spare parts are being delivered with delay. On the other hand, it turned out that one aircraft unexpectedly required more maintenance than planned. ‘As soon as we see that maintenance is delayed, we take measures at an early stage. We want to limit the impact on passengers as much as possible. We want to prevent situations like last year and inform travellers and the sector well in advance. Our aim is to rebook 100 percent and just get everyone on the plane. And that seems to be working again’, says the spokesperson, who emphasizes: ‘We find it very annoying for our partners that we saddle them with extra work.’ Walter Schut, deputy director of the ANVR, has his reservations.
‘What’s good for Transavia isn’t always good for the tour operator. It creates extra work and a lot of hassle. For example, you will have to deal with passengers departing from Amsterdam and returning to Eindhoven. Then, as a tour operator, you have to arrange transport. And settling the costs creates a lot of red tape. We’ve talked about that with Transavia before.’ Schut calls it ‘a good thing’ that Transavia intervenes in time and adjusts the flight schedule now and does not wait until the last minute. On March 21 this year, it was also announced that Transavia will have to cancel flights again this year. The company itself spoke of ‘an operational and commercial adjustment in our schedule for the coming period’. At the time, it concerned changes/cancellations for the period between April 18 and June 30 this year. (Photo Shutterstock).
