Karen Brouwers, independent travel agent at TUI at Home, broke a record on Tuesday by winning a place on two different study trips during TravDay. The first spot is on a Fox study trip to Sri Lanka in May. This study trip was raffled off among visitors of TravDay who had visited the Fox stand, explained Anja van Overbeeke (Senior Sales Representative of ANWB Reizen/Fox) when the award was handed over on stage. After Karen, still dazed from winning the prize, was back in the audience with her colleagues, her name sounded again from the stage when the next prize winner was announced. This time it was about a place on a study trip of Captain Cruise, with the Vasco da Gama of shipping company Nicko Cruises. It will sail along the French coast in September this year.

The award ceremony on the big stage was the final piece of a day full of networking, gaining knowledge, making new contacts, maintaining existing contacts and, above all, lots of good conversations and fun. The Rijtuigenloods in Amersfoort was once again the location for an animated edition of TravDay. The sixth TravDay started at 11:00 a.m. with a first: the TRAVELNEXT Knowledge Theater. Speakers from Red Online Marketing, Google, BUas (Breda), weflycheap and CM.com shed light on the technological developments of the future and their practical application in the travel industry. The presentations attracted more attention than expected. Throughout the day there were breakout sessions with presentations by ANWB Reizen/Fox, Sunair Vakanties, Vision of the Future, TravelProof, Net Travel Group, JBC Agencies and the Moroccan National Tourist Board. The free catering was excellent throughout the day, with visitors being welcomed with a good lunch upon arrival. The animated day ended with networking drinks and dinner. Sandra Boer of The Travel Club in Giethoorn summed up her experience of the sixth TravDay on Facebook: ‘Thank you for the super educational day! What a lot of info again & positive energy.’ Photo: Karen Brouwers (middle) at the reception of her study trip location number one: with Anja van Overbeeke of ANWB Reizen/Fox.
