Recreation Insurance may be a new name to many in the travel industry, but the company has a rich history. Originally a part of RECRON and known as RECRON Service, owner Chris van Eck decided to give the company a new direction in January 2018. ‘It had been around for more than 25 years by then. RecreatieVerzekeringen is the new name it was given when I started on 1 January 2018,’ says Van Eck. ‘I thought the name should cover the scope I wanted to deal with, so only recreation insurance.’ RecreatieVerzekeringen distinguishes itself from other providers of travel insurance by the diversity of ways they offer their customers to do so. ‘We have several options, from a unique link to API links. The latter makes it possible for the insurance to be processed directly in our system when a final booking is made.’ Broad target group With a focus on the travel sector and a customer-oriented approach, RecreatieVerzekeringen wants to be a reliable partner for everyone in the travel industry.
Van Eck: ‘The target group is very broad, from campsites, holiday parks, group accommodations and booking platforms to yacht rental companies, tour operators and travel agents, you name it. But in addition to B2B, every consumer can also take out one of the insurances directly via our website.’
