It was a beautiful congress. On that, all 195 attendees of the ANVR congress agreed wholeheartedly Sunday after the event. Northern Spain’s Asturias proved an attractive and also very hospitable region for the four-day congress, which had its last day on Sunday. The topics and associated speakers were well chosen. These were brought to heel after the conference days by Arjen van Hijum (Excap), who humorously considered the day with his spoken columns. Congress attendees were also not short on gastronomy. On Tuesday, there was a lunch around, with participants visiting various restaurants in the cities of Avilés, Gijon or Oviedo for tapas and wine. On Saturday, the surrounding nature was explored; the Covadonga nature reserve and the Picos de Europa In his role as chairman of the ANVR, Arjan Kers (also general manager of TUI Netherlands) thanked ANVR director Frank Oostdam on Sunday after the last part of the conference. Not only for the successful congress and his role as moderator, but also for his efforts during the past difficult corona years and his renewed commitment after he had been in the slack for a while. Cherry praised Oostdam for his optimism and positivity and for always being there for the industry. “You’re the person who has held this industry together. You’re not just there during the conference, you’re there for the sector every day.’ Take a look at the first pictures here.Photo (from left to right): ANVR director Frank Oostdam, Ignacio Valle (director of the Spanish Tourist Office in The Hague), Lara Martínez Fernández (Deputy Minister of Tourism of Asturias) and Arjan Kers (chairman of ANVR).
