Eindhoven Airport will ban all private flights starting in 2026. With this, the airport aims to stay on track to meet its stated sustainability goals by 2030. By that year, noise and CO2 emissions must be reduced by 30 percent. The measure will reduce the total number of flights at Eindhoven by 1,000; from about 41,500 now to 40,500 in 2026 and 2027. Eindhoven Airport also wants to begin introducing a “takeoff procedure,” the way aircraft take off and climb to flying altitude, as soon as possible. This should also reduce noise pollution for the immediate area. In addition, by 2030 only the latest generation of aircraft will be allowed to take off and land from Eindhoven. Recently, Eindhoven Airport, in cooperation with Schiphol Airport, started using artificial intelligence (AI) to further improve the aircraft turnaround process and minimize delays. Using Deep Turnaround, cameras on the platform automatically detect the start and end times of the ground handling process. This makes it possible to predict the end time of the turnaround process (the turnaround) and to have advance insight into when an aircraft is ready to push. (Photo Shutterstock).
