On Friday, October 27, the Calamity Committee determined a calamity and benefitable situation for hurricane Tammy on Sint Maarten. This applies retroactively from 21 October. Tour operators who, as a result of these floods, were no longer able to fulfil their obligations under the travel agreement, can report to the Calamity Fund.On the basis of the factual situation as given by the participating tour operators concerned, the Calamity Fund office will determine whether, and if so where and until when there was a situation that was eligible for benefits. Travellers can claim the additional costs for the necessary travel adjustments from the Calamity Fund through the travel company where they have booked, the Calamity Fund reports on its website. The costs of undelivered travel components can be deducted from the payment of the Calamity Fund. The Calamity Fund emphasizes that the costs of a forced extended stay after the original travel period are not covered by the guarantee scheme. ́Any additional costs for this extended stay are therefore not eligible for reimbursement. ́ (Photo Schutterstock).
