
In December of last year, too, there was a substantial growth in the number of bookings, which is the same as in the previous months. This is evident from figures from the new ANVR/GfK booking monitor. In December last year, the number of bookings was 15 percent higher than a year earlier and also 6 percent higher than in the pre-corona year of 2019. “This means that 2023 ended as the year with the most bookings: 14 percent above the level of 2022 and also 13 percent above the level of 2019,” reports the ANVR. It is also important to note that the share of bookings outside Europe has returned; 18 percent of bookings were for destinations outside Europe. North America made a growth spurt, but is still below the level of 2019. Asia and Africa achieved a nice growth in bookings at 22-24 percent. Oceania and South America fell slightly. In South America because Curaçao could not maintain the strong growth of recent months in the month of December, reports the ANVR. Europe’s top destinations achieved double-digit growth. Greece leads the way with 35 percent, followed by Portugal (33 percent) and Italy (28 percent).
