On Thursday, ANVR director Frank Oostdam officially signed the partnership with Oman at the ITB in Berlin for the ANVR congress in November this year. The partnership was endorsed with the Director General of Promotion, Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani. The final congress will be held from Wednesday 13 to Sunday 17 November this year. In addition, there are pre- and post-tours. It is not yet known which airline will be used. The hotel is also not yet known. ‘We do have a preference. We are looking for something near the capital Muscat, to limit travel during the conference as much as possible,’ says Oostdam, who recently made an inspection trip to Oman.
‘We have the luxury of a wide range of luxury hotels. We try to meet the high expectations of the participants. The participation fee has not yet been announced, but of course we will try to keep it as low as possible.’ In the meantime, the conference theme has also been determined: Energizing the Future of Travel. Through this theme, a link is made with the fact that Oman is involved in the development of alternative fuels, such as hydrogen. Since there is a lot of interest in Oman as a conference destination, Oostdam is counting on approximately 250 participants. It is expected that many will take a pre- or post-tour. Also, just like last year in northern Spain, a full day will be set aside for excursions. According to figures from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman attracts around 12,000 visitors from the Netherlands every year.
