Brussels Airport is increasingly presenting itself as an alternative to the busy Schiphol.
If it were up to director Arnaud Feist, his airport would only receive more Dutch people in the future, he says in NRC.
When asked if he sees more interest from the Netherlands, he says: ‘Absolutely. If you go into the parking lot now, you will see a lot of yellow number plates. I think we are attractive to Dutch people, especially from the south of the country. The Dutch airline Transavia stationed a third aircraft here in June.’ ‘About a million Dutch people a year fly from Brussels. Pre-covid, it was 600,000. This is partly thanks to Transavia, Corendon and TUI. Our ambition is to attract even more Dutch people.’

However, we are not in favour of a cap on the number of flight movements. We want to limit our impact on the environment as much as possible. Then it must be a cap on gelúíd. That is relevant for local residents, not the number of flights.’ He adds: ‘And remember, aviation also has its advantages. The people who are going on holiday here today are all happy. It’s always the same negative discussion now. That never ceases to amaze me,” he told the newspaper.(Photo Brussels Airport).
