With a reception for invited guests and colleagues at Hilton Schiphol, Jan Feenstra, Country Manager Benelux & Northern Europe at Delta Air Lines, said goodbye on Thursday evening. Feenstra was the face of the American airline on the Dutch market for more than 32 years. He is now retiring. ‘I could have done that in October, but I wanted to finish another job and it’s now behind me,’ said Feenstra, who was praised for his sense of humour and Dutch directness. Feenstra started his career in the travel industry in 1976 at Hotelplan, where he worked for five years in purchasing and production. In 1982 he joined Koninklijke Beuk Touringcars & Travel for five years. After working at Interbus for two more years, he switched to aviation in 1990. In that year, he started as sales manager Benelux at Delta Air Lines, a major player at Schiphol. He was promoted to sales manager Netherlands & North Europe in 2012 and was appointed Country Manager Benelux & North Europe at the beginning of 2023. Feenstra concluded his farewell party with the words: ‘I wish you blue skies, tailwind and happy holidays.’ Photo: Jan Feenstra with his wife Sylvia.
