EasyJet has had a good financial year. In the 2023 financial year, which ended on 30 September, a profit (before tax) of 525 million euros was achieved. This result is due to the high demand for air travel. This can be seen in the number of passengers. In 2023, there were 82.8 million. This is nearly one-fifth (19 percent) more than one year previously. Higher demand and higher ticket prices resulted in a turnover of 9.4 billion euros. That’s an increase of 42 percent. The British budget airline recorded a loss of 205 million euros last year. “Our record summer performance shows that we have the right strategy and that demand for EasyJet remains strong,” CEO Johan Lundgren said in a statement. “Customers continue to choose us because of our network and our value.” Lundgren is positively looking forward to the year ahead, with airline and holiday bookings both ahead on a year-over-year basis. “Recent consumer research in the UK shows that around three-quarters of people plan to spend more on their holidays compared to last year, as travel remains the top priority for households.” (Photo: EasyJet).
