The recently updated travel advisories for the areas around the mouth of the Suez Canal do not apply to the canal itself. So says the ANVR in a note. Following the adjustment of travel advisories for the areas around the mouth of the Suez Canal some time ago, ANVR received many questions about what this means for the conduct of cruise vacations using the canal’s passage. When asked, the State Department said that the advisory for adjacent territories does not apply to the canal itself. ‘The Suez Canal is so economically important to Egypt (and thus so well secured) that we can assume that cruise ships can safely pass through it,’ the State Department informs. ‘We assume that an addition to the travel advice will be made for Egypt and Israel in the short term.’ This means that cruise holidays that use the channel can also be carried out as usual, says the ANVR. Customers who still wish to cancel their trip may do so upon payment of the cancellation terms agreed upon with them. (Photo Shutterstock).
