Schiphol announces the largest investment plan in the history of the airport to improve infrastructure, working conditions and services to passengers and airlines.
\nSchiphol will invest 6 billion euros over the next five years.
\nMore passengers (+9%) found their way back to Royal Schiphol Group airports.
\nIn the first half of 2024, airports welcomed 36.1 million passengers.
\n31.8 million passengers (+11%) flew to, from or via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
\nThe number of flights to and from Schiphol was 230,417 (+12%).
\nThe 2024 half-year figures reflect Schiphol’s path to financial recovery after a number of difficult years.
\nIn the first half of the year, Schiphol Group’s underlying net result was 99 million euros.
\nThe cash flow after investments was negative 188 million.
\nDespite a smooth operational performance this May and summer holidays, overall passenger satisfaction is not at the desired level.

\nInvestment portfolio between 2024-2029 Schiphol is working closely with contractors on the investment portfolio, which includes maintenance and renewal of the aviation infrastructure, renovations of passenger and employee facilities and the implementation of innovative ways to improve working conditions.
\nIn recent months, several new facilities have opened their doors, such as new shops and restaurants in the Lounges.
\nThere is still a lot of work to be done and therefore the maintenance and renewal work will continue in the coming years, on top of the investment plans presented earlier.
\nBetween 2024 and 2029, Schiphol will invest 6 billion euros to improve airport facilities.
\nImportant parts of the airport infrastructure – including pier C, the baggage basement, climate control systems, escalators, aircraft stands and taxiways – are in need of major maintenance or renewal.
\nPier A is completed and new construction projects such as the new baggage basement start. “While it is encouraging to see that our financial results are improving and our balance sheet is strong, our overall financial performance is not yet satisfactory.
\nRising operating costs and the investment portfolio are putting our current and long-term cash flows under severe pressure.
