Joost Meijs will become the new CEO of Maastricht Aachen Airport on 1 October. Meijs succeeds Jonas van Stekelenburg as director of NV HBLM, which includes the operating companies Maastricht Aachen Airport BV and Maastricht Aachen Airport Beheer & Infra. Meijs is appointed because of his extensive managerial experience and extensive track record in aviation. He was previously CEO of Eindhoven Airport and Aruba Airport. ‘With the arrival of Joost Meijs, we are bringing in a very experienced airport manager,’ says Frans Weekers, chairman of the Supervisory Board of NV HBLM. ‘His experience in aviation is impressive and fits in very well with what Maastricht Aachen Airport needs. We see Joost as the CEO who is leading Maastricht Aachen Airport towards a future-proof and environmentally-aware airport.’ Under Meijs’ leadership, Eindhoven Airport developed into a mature airport from 2008 to 2019. From 2019 to 2024, Meijs, as CEO of Aruba Airport, navigated the airport through the pandemic and worked on the elaboration of the long-term strategy. With this, the airport should transform into one of the most sustainable and future-oriented airports in South America and the Caribbean. ‘I am very much looking forward to working on this challenging job, together with all colleagues at the airport and the interested parties.
