It has been noticeable in the industry for some time, but it has now also been confirmed by figures: the growth of bookings is levelling off. In February 2024, the number of bookings grew by only 1 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data from ANVR\/GfK. The slowing growth was already visible in previous months. Taking into account the fact that there were also slightly more bookings in advance, the growth has come to an end and the number of bookings is stabilising. On average, customers booked two days longer in advance than last year. According to the ANVR\/GfK figures, there are considerable differences per destination. The absolute winner in February was Turkey with a plus of 43 percent. This even exceeded the number of bookings from pre-corona 2019. The booking period also decreased: more customers booked on average less before departure to Turkey. Sweden (+40%) was also booked well. However, the picture is differentiated, as neighbouring countries Denmark and Norway fared a lot worse. In the top 10 of European destinations, the differences were small. Only Belgium lagged behind with -19%. Outside Europe, Thailand and Indonesia in particular are growing strongly in Asia (+15%). China is also coming back.
