Last year, Riu Hotels & Resorts saw its turnover rise by almost a quarter (24 percent) to 3.6 billion euros compared to the previous year. In 2023, a total of 6.4 million customers spent their holidays in the Spanish chain’s hotels. According to Riu, the growth in sales is due on the one hand to price increases of around ten percent, and on the other hand to the strong occupancy rate, which averaged 89 percent. That is five percent higher than in 2022. Riu calls it “very positive” that there were many regular customers; 38 percent of Riu customers are repeaters. This year, the hotel chain will continue to focus on expansion, says CEO Luis Riu. Four new hotels will open this year.
